Footnote Dance - Expressions of interest 2010

Mission

Footnote Dance seeks to present the best new New Zealand contemporary dance, supported by a range of accessible ‘wrap’ programmes and events, to all New Zealanders. Footnote Dance aims to be outstanding ambassadors for contemporary dance in partnership with other arts.

 Vision

Footnote Dance has international recognition as a leader in the New Zealand contemporary dance industry. Footnote Dance develops, nurtures, presents and tours the choreographic talents of New Zealand in a secure, professional artistic environment, with excellent dancers who have stability and artistic challenge.

We are calling for expressions of interest in working with Footnote Dance in 2010. There may be a possibility of an opening for a dancer position, and we are also interested to hear from both established and emerging choreographers. Our commitment is to forming a strong artistic whanau of key creative dance practitioners and giving ongoing support to the industry.

For a dancer position, we would like to hear from dancers with a tertiary dance qualification, passion and performance experience who are interested in being part of the company for 2010. You need to be articulate and open to working with different choreographers who explore a range of methodology to develop movement vocabulary. You need to love performance in theatres, schools and communities and be committed as an ambassador for contemporary dance made in Aotearoa.

·         Current photograph

·         Names and contact details of two referees who have relevant and recent knowledge of your work.

·         Recent dance works you have been in and processes you have shared with names of the major creative personnel in these projects.


We would appreciate indications of interest by 6th November in order to make an opportunity to hold auditions if required. The final decision for company dancers for 2010 will be made by 1^st December 2009. The proposed dancer contracts will be from 18th January 2010 and will be for all or part of a period of 37 weeks to be finalised according to performance and touring schedules.
